Re: Advertising parts?

Thanks Mary. I always go immediately to the Series One 4/4 section and didn't notice there was a section to sell parts!

Series One 4/4 parts

Having just almost finished my 1937 Series One I have a few parts I am thinking of selling. 1. Coventry Climax engine block - disassembled. There is the usual crack in the block between cylinders 2 and 3. There was a plate over the crack when I bought the engine. Many Coventry Climax engines have th...

Re: Morgans Down Under and wheels

Concerning Series One wheels. Mike Anthony, a long time Series One enthusiast in California and an ex-pat, told me he had heard a story that HFS Morgan probably got the original wheels from the British Salmson company when they decided not to go ahead with a proposed model in the mid 1930s. The sugg...

Re: Morgans Down Under

Re John Merton's belief that ALL pre-war 4 wheeled Morgans were designated 4/4 and not 4-4s. He makes a very good case and I agree with him. I argued the case with the Morgan Historic Register who listed my car as a 4-4. They have now decided all pre 1937 4/4s are 4-4s just to keep me happy I guess!...

1937 Morgan 4/4 back on the road after 47+ years

Chassis 332 is finally back in driveable condition although not completely finished and not certified for the road yet. The car was registered in Britain as BNP 986 and was present at the very first meeting of the Morgan 4/4 club in June 1951. It was imported to Canada in 1971 and not driven here. I...

Re: Series 1 Distributor Drive

I'm rebuilding chassis 332. My engine is being rebuilt and after many problems was going very well until he called me last Friday to say my distributor drive spur gear was in dreadful shape and needed replacing. George Proudfoot doesn't have any and it may be some time before he gets more made. Any ...

Re: Hinge for pre-war Morgan 4/4

Hi Mark, I haven't checked brakehorsepower for a year but checked back in this evening. Just to let you know I managed to get someone to repair the original hinge, not an easy job. the car has been in the paint shop since mid June...... Now rebuilding the Coventry Climax engine has produced some pro...

Re: Hinge for pre-war Morgan 4/4

Unfortunately all the data on this webpage is for modern postwar Morgans. this type of hinge only seems to have been used in 1936 and 1937 and was replaced with type that had a chrome strip down the centre line of the bonnet where each bonnet side slid into - as used on all post-war Morgans.

Hinge for pre-war Morgan 4/4

I am restoring a pre-war Morgan 4/4 and have just started work on the bonnet. The hinge is in pretty bad shape and it makes sense to replace it with a new one. However, the 1936/37 4/4s used a rather unusual type of hinge. The 1938/39 4/4s used a piano hinge but I want to keep the car original and u...

Help/advice needed rebuilding a 1937 Series One

I bought a 1937 Series One in July which needs completely rebuilding and was hoping some members may be able to give advice. Originally the car was registered BNP 986 but was brought over to Toronto in 1971 I think. It was never registered as a running car in Ontario as far as I know. The car was so...
