Re: 1953 Plus 4 and 1974 Plus 8 - Auction

I saw that Mary. but it doesn't say if that was the hammer price or whether 10% commission plus VAT at 20% has to be added...

I note Matthew Parkin ex: Morgan Motor Company is one of the classic car consultants.

I suspect that is why both Morgans had good catalogue write ups.

Re: 1953 Plus 4 and 1974 Plus 8 - Auction

Thanks for confirming Mary. Good news! This car is chassis number P.3019 although I understand the chassis numbers were allocated at random so it doesn't mean it was the last interim cowl Plus 4 made... However they were all supposed to have been fitted with Vanguard engines (the engine number is V ...

Re: 1953 Plus 4 and 1974 Plus 8 - Auction

The Plus 4 is very interesting Philip and Leigh. Thanks for flagging it up. One of only 19 interim cowl Plus Fours thought to have been made. Only two are known to survive - the ex: Pat Kennett 4 seater (now owned by Guy Loveridge) and the ivory white 2 seater owned by John Smith (still?). So this i...

Re: A Morgan Down Under

I was at Goodwood Revival yesterday and saw a 1930's saloon car (a Salmson?) with wheels that looked very similar to the Easi-Clean wheels you Series 1 racing boys covert. I am sure this is a silly question but surely those wheels were not just made for the Morgan Motor Co. The whole ethos of HFS wa...

Is that a bit of Italian you are lapsing in to Simon - 'looks a very nice' ?!

Yes it does look good.

Bet you are eyeing up those wheels...!

Re: FIA Papers

Hi Phil, Hope you are well and pleased to hear you have bought John's 4/4. Jack is absolutely right so no need to go down that (expensive!) road. In fact for many events where they allow cars of the 70's and 80's they may not be too fussy about the engine transplant either... See you soon, Cheers Mark

Hi Brian and Jochem,

Yes I will be racing - haven't missed one yet...!

Look forward to seeing you both then - if not before.

I am racing at Spa this weekend with the Classic Sports Car Club - it may not be too late to get an entry Jochem...!

"Malvern Links"

I see that Silverstone Auctions have an original oil on canvas by Tony Smith in their Race Retro Classic Car Sale at the end of February. It is titled "Malvern Links" and I think I have seen a post card depicting two Morgans travelling in opposite directions in a picturesque Malvern country scene......

Re: Annual Lunch

Yes a good pre-season get together indeed. Thank you to everyone who made the effort. I see JD Classics have a Mercedes Gullwing for sale in this months Motor Sport Alan - the same colour as 818 AOA? It was good to catch up and thank you Machiel and Ingrid coming all the way from Holland...! So no e...

They most certainly are Bob (worth saving that is).

What a good (and generous) idea.

I am sure the club archivist will have a solution...

Look forward to seeing you again on Saturday.
