Re: RIP Philip Goddard
Indeed , Mary I was at the MSCC Brooklands Jamboree on Saturday, and heard the news, I know that Nigel would be giving eulogy at the dinner that evening. While I did not know Phillip as well as most on here, I always found him to be friendly approachable and generous, A true English Gentleman. I wil...

Re: Web site updates
Jim, I agree there was a lot of doping around at the time, although it was beginning to get more dangerous to do so, ie being caught, however, in Armstrong' case it was at whole new level, if I understand it right, a professional approach that was the basis for his success. Much like Russia always c...

Re: Web site updates
In 2003 Tour d France the 3rd stage was a 'Team Time Trial', where the whole team rode as one, the first five riders across the line were all given the same time, which was added to their overall time. This often lead to the first five places in the race being the five teem members. As Lance Armstro...

No outside assistance was allowed, one leading rider had his front forks break, and persuaded a local blacksmith to let him use his workshop to repair them, which he duly did doing all of he wok himself. He was disqualified because the blacksmith's young son worked the bellows on the forge.

Re: I'm Sure I Know That Face.
Hi Bob, To be honest, I didn't had any idea that your stuff is for sale. Do you come to Mogfest at Brooklands? If so, maybe we can discuss the options. Best regards, Machiel. Machiel, I have not thought of selling the items, it was just a passing notion when replying to you post. With four daughter...

Re: I'm Sure I Know That Face.
Hi, John, I still recall a few 'adventures' we had together. That was before your Transportation to Australia, of course, thank goodness we no longer rely on schooners to bring us news from Down Under. Should anyone would like to know how motorsport was back in the 50's then I can recommend the foll...

Re: I'm Sure I Know That Face.
Machiel, I'm glad you enjoyed the article, I am happy to be able to add some insight on what was a terrible day for motor sport. I do wonder what to do with the ticket and such, as no one in the family is interested, and, in a way are of historic interest, especially when linked to the story, they m...

Macklin, once described the difference between himself and Stirling Moss, He, Macklin could drive flat out for three laps, Moss could do it all race.
I saw him win the Daily Express International Trophy. for HWM in 1952, my first visit to Silverstone.

Re: melancholy
I don't recall the start too well, as the red lights turned to green, And all those early laps I ran are just vague memories, barely seen. Ah! but so well do I remember the sheer joy of getting up to speed. The constant raging urge and addiction that all young racers need. I had my time in the limel...

Re: I'm Sure I Know That Face.
Simon, earlier this year I received an email from the chap who wrote the article, asking if I would give an interview on my experience in 1955. He had been commissioned to write a piece on the accident for Road & Track's 100th Le Mans Anniversary edition, and was asked if he could find any eye w...
