for you cycle nuts (Bob, John E, Simon B, Jonathon E, et al) Re racing drivers and their off piste antics/dalliances, (what those boys got up to in those days). This from an earlier era and equally demanding sport, Extracts from a book on the 1923 tour de France. "Bicycles had only two gears, t...

what those boys got up to in those days...! "Macklin's social confidence and smooth demeanour made him popular with women, and he would sometimes be more interested in them than racing. Abecassis had been critical of this easy-going attitude: He never cared whether he started in a race or not.....

That cursèd left-hand cylinder the doctors call my heart Is pinking past redemption—I am done! They’ll never strike a mixture that’ll help me pull my load. My gears are...

Re: ARV6 sold at auction

unfortunately it didn't sell---apparently this was below the reserve. It was on display at the entrance to the Hall at Stoneleigh Race Retro together with Choc Ices,, both looked pristine. ARV6 sold at auction

ARV6 Bumble sold at Silverstone/Race retro £39000 plus commission. A snip considering development costs expended.

1979 Plus 8 class 2 race car

If you scratch an itch, the reaction may not be as intended. What might have been? What has been. For some considerable time without doubt the most admired and the best sounding car on the grid has been the pretty red no 47. Re: Auction Plus 4 plus

the plus 4 plus appeared well presented. The interest would have been a benchmark price for a non factory car. The owner came to an unfortunate end. However, the car will inevitably be on the market again. Many models failed to sell. Had I the means I would have coveted the works Elite and a stunning...
