Re: Centenary Race - the Tucker Trophy

Hi All,

Philip Tisdall and I have both individually received Entry Forms today from the Masters office for The Tucker Trophy at Brands Hatch on the Indy circuit on Saturday 23rd May.

We have already got our cheques off!

Have you all done the same?!

Cheers

Hi Simon,

That is great news! but isn't it typical that my car will not quite be ready in time! Never mind I will look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.

Cheers

Re: Race overalls

Hi All, You will be pleased to know that Grand Prix Racewear has been bought by Martin Hines (of Zip karts fame). I understand they are up and running but if like me you are a Privilege Member we only have until April to take advantage of the various discounts that are available to us. See the PR re...

Re: 100 Years

Cheeky devil! Although it was my birthday last Saturday I am pleased to say I was born 5 years after the Daily Express International Trophy race. It was held on 20th August on the new perimeter road circuit of 2.97 miles not dissimilar to the circuit we race on today and Peter drove CAB 652 which as...

Re: Awards Dinner 2008

Hi All, The pictures bring back memories! Jane and I had only had our new Ivory 4/4 two seater the previous October so it was the first time it had seen real snow. When we came out of our room at the Abbey to go down to the bar for a drink before dinner on the Saturday night we met the couple in the...

Re: 100 Years

Ignoring Bobs latest posting completely I forward VON 777 as the oldest Morgan with continuous competition history.

It was built for Alan Belcher in Febuary 1958 with competition, particularly racing, in mind and is still doing so in the hands of father and son Doug and Matt Taylerson.

Cheers

Re: Centenary Race - the Tucker Trophy

Great news Guy - even if we are not on the GP circuit.

Like Mary I hope you received my email too confirming that I would be interested with both cars.

Look forward to hearing more about the meeting as you get further information.

Cheers

Hi Bob, I am pleased Chris knows who it is, as after your referral to me as a 'know it all' I didn't like to say! But our balloon painters dad works for his dad! Next time you are in the garden centre Bob please pick up a copy of the Jim Clark DVD for me and I will settle up with you first race I se...

Re: Mystery Morgan

Hi Bob, Now that I have seen a proper picture of the car in question I can tell you that it is chassis number 5324 delivered to Greendale Garage on 14th April 1967 (invoice date 1/4/67).It appears to be still in its original colour scheme but I don't know if it still has its original engine. You mig...

Re: Aerodynmics

I know this has got nothing to do with the topic - but I can't resist it! When I was a schoolboy my hero was Jim Clark. I don't know where I was when JFK was killed or when Elvis died - I couldn't care less. But I know exactly where I was when I first learnt that Jim Clark had been killed and I was ...

Re: FIA Papers

Hi Simon, Great to hear from you - and so erudite too! I hope FOJ is going to be fit this season - let us know what you are planning to do. I do not know of any UK period papers that specifically relate to Morgans running roofless. Unless XOV being a late 1950's car enables it to be accepted in an e...

Re: New kid on the block

By the way, Keith won and Adrian was second! However it was a close run finish as that little Sprite with its Italian druiver was all over them like a rash - until he spun off (again) on the last lap! An XK 140 (lightweight coupe) was third. Now it would be interesting to see the FIA Homologation pa...

Re: New kid on the block

Great pictures Andy of Adrian and Keith in their SLRs at the Goodwood Revival in 2006. They were competing in the Fordwater Trophy which that year was for Endurance Racing Sports and GT cars of a type that raced between 1960 and the circuits demise in 1966. Hence the pretty little Austin Healey Spee...

With such a packed 2009 Calender, to continue Chris Acklams wry comments on the slippery slope of historic motor racing, you wouldn't have time to work one day a week!
