Re: A Silly Section

Ah..... those rabbits, Leigh. A well known cousin of mine- genuine- used to write the sort of stories that began;- 'Once upon a time there were four little rabbits. Their names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter ...........' She was a great lady. I have to go and put my car together now! Andrewp

Re: A Silly Section

Who mentioned rabbits? I thought the aforesaid Forest of Dean was famous for its sheep. Your mention of John Cleese has prompted me to inflict more bull on you all. Heather and I used to work at John Cleese's alma mater Clifton College here in Bristol. In days gone by, before all this elf 'an safety...

Re: Report on the AMOC Silverstone Meeting

Could do with Tom Finney myself, after your missive. Finished Silverstone with a distinct whiff of Shell and traces of V-power swilling around the woodwork. Fuel tank had split, and have mended it with a good dose of Araldite and some aluminium angle- hope it works at Cadwell. If you're at Silversto...

Re: Report on the AMOC Silverstone Meeting

What do you mean Andrewp- I thought your reputation was none too small, Bob? Did you mention Preston North End? Tom Finney perhaps.....in the 1950s, when soccer players earned a maximum of £20 a week, Tom Finney was a plumber at the same time as being the local Ronaldo of his day with Stan Matthews ...

Re: Morgans V MG's

As a final flourish, so to speak, and your mention of the Land's End- my father was a triallist in the thirties, and as keeper of the family photographs, I have photos of him, and his cups, from taking part in 1934/5/6 in the major trials of those years either in Morris' or MGs. He used ro race a bo...

Re: Morgans V MG's

Dear all- now fully recovered from my efforts, thank you. Two weeks ago it was in the Forest of Dean, and before that on the Mendips.............All of us are born young, but some are born more young than others, and some have youngness thrust upon them! Only seven more years and I'll be seventy. An...

Re: Morgans V MG's

Dear Bob- a thought occurred whilst away with 26 teenage girls on the v wet and windy Exmoor this weekend- I forgot to mention Andy, who's very 'andy and is chief bod on the Technical Committee and usually to be found wandering around the paddocks in a cream linen suit. Glad that you're managing to ...

Re: Morgans V MG's

Another Dear Bob letter! Actually I was only kidding, or should that be codding? Depends where you come from, I suppose. I ought to point out, Bob, as I am sure that you've found out, that there are 2 Andrews in Roadsters, one of whom is very good at his racing and the other isn't, and there are 2 A...

Re: Morgans V MG's

Good to meet you, too, Bob, and I love the photos. However, having caught me making my mistake of the day and letting Ulrich through-last photo of the lot-
shouldn't allow you to call me a salmon; utter haddock may have been more like it!

To both Andys I say 'Thank you'. I have had an astonishing first year in racing, mainly learning my craft (slowly) and the circuits, and I have enjoyed every minute of my time with you all. What a privilege it was to race in your team, Andy; all I had in mind was to enjoy the race and perhaps to put ...

Mmmm! Should we rename this site as MorganAge Concern? Certainly my lack of overtaking skills at Castle Combe would indicate that I was driving a motorised Zimmer.

Should give me about thirty years at this rate!
I met Tom Delaney on a couple of occasions at Goodwood during the last few years, the last just a week after he'd rolled his Lea-Francis? . He still managed Goodwood with a smile and a bruised wrist. He must have been 93!
