BDC Competition Day

Post by Mark Shears »

Another good lunch again at the BDC Competition day on Saturday at the clubs very impressive HQ at Wroxton near Banbury!

The sausage and mash with onion gravy is worth the journey alone although in my case it is a quick sprint up Sunrising Hill!

John Clarke reported last year that the club were hoping to run another 2 day meeting as they had in 2009 this year but as we all know it was the traditional one day affair. Apparently this was due to pressure on Silverstones calender with the demise of Donington Park.

No such pressures this year so the BDC have asked again for it to be run as a 2 day meeting and Silverstone have said yes - with pleasure. Although as Duncan Wiltshire said that could change even late in the day.

However Duncan is very positive and with the support of the invited clubs - he singled out the Morgan club- he is optimistic that it will be a great weekend of historic racing. And not all Bentleys and pre-war cars but also possibly a team race organised by AMOC,a special race for 1950's Sports Cars and a 'headline' race to be confirmed. It also seems likely that Equipe GTS will be invited again as well as the Thoroughbreds.

Looks like we can pencil into the diary Saturday 13th August 2011 and also the Sunday the 14th too.

Roll on the summer!

Cheers

Mark
