“Equipe”GTS / AMOC 50’s Sports Cars - 2012

Quite a few things have happened over the past few months and for those who are unaware, the “Equipe”GTS series is now being organised by the Aston Martin Owner’s club and administered by Duncan Wiltshire.

A comparatively modest calendar compared to previous years is listed below and you will see most all races are at AMOC meetings plus one at the popular Bentley Driver’s Club meeting in August. Additionally the chance of trying the full Goodwood circuit at the AMOC’s regular sprint meeting is also included in the calendar.

Apr 28th Silverstone - AMOC - 1 x 30 Minute

May 12th Oulton Park - AMOC - 1 x 30 Minute

June 4th -5th Brands Hatch - AMOC - 2 x 30 Minute

July 7th Goodwood - AMOC - Sprint Meeting

July 29th Donington Park - AMOC - 1 x 30 Minute

Aug 11th Silverstone - BDC - 1 x 30 Minute

Sept 29th Snetterton 300 - AMOC - 1 x 30 Minute

Triumph engine Plus 4 and Pre 1600 cross-flow 4/4 cars are eligible for “Equipe”GTS events and at most AMOC meetings there is a race for 50’s sports and GT cars with certain modifications allowed which would enable all “Equipe”GTS eligible Morgans to compete in a second race or the possibly for a second driver having their own race on the day.

There is no registration fee for either series and membership of the AMOC is not necessary.

Both series regulations, race entry and driver registration forms are available on-line at http://www.amocracing.org

Cheers

Jim

I think it is no secret that in previous years the "Equipe"GTS series has attracted more than it's fair share of MGBs. However in their 50th year with other series attracting these cars away and I am very sure with the added influence of Duncan Wiltshire, we appear to be appealing owners and drivers of several other interesting makes and models.

Starting this year we have also opened the doors to early 2 litre Porsche 911 cars, all of which will be running to FIA Appendix K regulations and on Dunlop Historic tyres. We will continue to exclude Lotus Elans and all Marcos cars.

Since publishing this season's driver registration forms, they are being returned at a rate which far exceeded the AMOC's and Duncan's own expectations. It would not be correct to announce yet who has enetered the first Silverstone race, but it would ceratinly appear that Richard and Mark will not be the only Morgan drivers on the grid.

The eligibilty Scrutineer is also hoping to arrive at the circuit in his Plus4. (if I can get it back together in time).

More news soon,

cheers

Jim
