This is the car after painting and the number 550 DXN can be seen as in the previous photograph!

Great pictures Ken.

It was certainly multi-coloured in Peters days - to be polite!

I know Jim Lowry and Simon Gurney discovered traces of the old Avion Blue paintwork when they were restoring the car a few years ago.

But maybe not the primrose yellow doors...?!

Cheers

Hi Mark,
This is a better picture of PGP123/ 550DXN at an AMOC Meeting at Silverstone 05.05 1962.
Bill Jones is driving the car.
The reg no has been hand painted, and not very well!!!!
This is in the records I have prepared for Simon.
Best Regards,
Ken

Dear Morgan friends,

What a great photo. Peter Martin behind the wheel! Look at him. A tie around his neck. Sitting in his car in a very relexed way.

If you like to meet Peter Martin, come to Run for the Hills. Peter is, like many others from the Lawrence Tune -crew, invited to be there. I am working on a display called: a Tribute to Christopher Lawrence.
Please, all of you, bring your old Morgan to this event. Let me know the year your car is built, the registration number and your name. We organise a very special parking area for Morgans who wrote history!

Enjoy the Sunday,

Machiel.

Dear Machiel,
Sorry to have to correct you but it is not Peter Marten!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you read my detailed text, with the photo, you will see I name the driver as Bill Jones!!
Bill bought the car from Peter in March 1962. The date of the meeting, again in my text, was 5th May 1962.
The car is, as you can clearly see in the photo, 550 DXN.
I drove the car to the circuit, which was usual, and either Bill or myself drove it home.
The car when owned by Peter was PGP 123!!!
Best Regards,
Ken.

Dear Ken,

Thanks for your reply. I have to say: SORRY, for being totally wrong! I really like to print this photo for my archive. Of course with the right names under it, but don't know how to do it.

Can you help me with that? My private email address is machielkalf@ziggo.nl

From sunny Holland,

Machiel.

Dear All,
Choc Ices.
PGP123/DXN550
This photo is of Choc Ices at Silverstone 4.10.70.
It was a Nottingham Sports Car Club Meeting.
Headlights blazing to signify I was coming up quickly behind back markers...... or.......had I inadvertently switched the headlights on?????????????
It was the last time I raced the car!!!

Happy Days.

Hi Ken,

Another great photo. Any option to send them to me in a way I can make a copy? THANKS, Machiel.

PS. Or do we see you next weekend, Sunday 26th of February at the Spare Fair at the Abbey Hotel, Malvern. It starts at 10.00 hour.

Machiel, when you get hold of the Autosports take a look at the December 23/29th edition of 1983, a full page article on a supercharged Morgan is most interesting. While I did not have time to look through them before sending them on I noticed several items with interest to the Historic section, so do not consign them to the dump to readily.

happy browsing,

Bob.

Dear Ken,
It was interesting to see this picture of DXN in 62 as it is carrying one of the early Lawrence hardtops that I thought had only been used on a couple of the early Lawrence cars and was supposedly an adaptation(!) of a TR top. At this time, of course, he made his own much smarter Le Mans style top which is on the car(PGP) now. Do you have any knowledge of what happened to the top in the picture or when it became 'detached' from the car? Did it go with the car when Bill sold it? Best regards, Bruce
