Spa & Angouleme 17-18 Sep 2016

Post by Leigh Sebba »

I see three Morgan +4 cars entered for the Six Hours – Keith, Simon OG, and John E (SLR). Entry lists for other races not yet up but no doubt others going (such as Plants). Good luck to all.

Mary has lured (?) myself to Angouleme along with Kelvin and Tim Clark where I look forward to seeing Tony hurling himself around the street circuit in his large and elderly machinery

Leigh you make yourself sound like a victim! As if I would lure anyone to take part in a motor race.... O:)
Four Plus 8s is a pretty impressive turnout for Angouleme - should be fun! :OO:

Just to make Bob happy here is another post re Europe. En route to Angouleme stopped at usual Le Mans Classic hotel on Mulsanne. Not full of Morgan folk but mainly business men and a karting team. Yesterday Chunnel a bit chaotic - one old Riley on way to Angouleme, lots of race cars going to Spa, and loads of Leicester City FC fans ( who will be happy today) but didn't see that no 1 fan Andy Green among them. Also met a sad German who had been to Manchester City to see the rain but had to go home before the revised match ( none of this footy gossip will mean anything to Bob)
Left hot and sunny UK for cool and rainy France, but forecast for w/ e looking pleasant
Have been watching Angouleme on YouTube with some trepidation not wanting to give Techniques any bodywork repair work.
Au Revoir for now

Hello All,

A (very) brief update regarding the Spa 6-Hours.

TOK 258 +4 - Ahlers/Bellinger/Bock - Retired when leading class after about 2 hours, not sure why.

SLR 919 +4 SLR - Emberson/Wykeham/Horseman - Retired when leading class after about 5 hours (I think), lost a wheel.

432 UYF +4 - Orebi Gann/Bull/Bourne - Podium ! 2nd in class, minor fuel pump problem 2 laps from the finish.

I'll try and find time to post more later.

Have Fun !

Rumour has it that TOK had either clutch or gearbox issues. I'm sure Keith will tell all!

Well done those in Simon's +4 432 UYF - was that a certain Bob Bull in the driver line-up ? !!! =D>

Thanks for giving us an update Andy and some pictures to add to the atmosphere...

Any news on how Angouleme went for our intrepid drivers?

Cheers

Angouleme was like the curate's egg - good in parts.
Tim Clarke spun on oil left by another car and hit the armco rather hard.
Leigh and Kelvin went very quickly and upheld Morgan honour.
I had a great time despite a puncture in the first race. Luckily there was a second race which was incident free.
