Silverstone paddock, about 1980, VSCC event or possibly a 6 hour relay if that is one of ‘the drummer’s’ pre war Aston Martins ? I do recall being on the grid with ‘him’ for a 6 hour relay. But it looks like everyone else has gone home ! :?: :?: :?: :?:

Hi Mark,

Chris Cooke did indeed run a very highly modified 4/4 with crossflow ford engine, infact if my memory serves me correctly it was an all steel engine with lots of Cosworth internals and it was canted over in the chassis at about 30 degrees!! with very special cylinder head and pistons.

I also remember the engine was a very difficult starter because of the high compression? but boy did it sound great when it did eventually start.

As one who loves building competition engines when you hear something like that start up, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up because you just know it's going to be very quick.

I don't know what happened to the car and I have not spoken to Chris for many years.

Regards

Andreas Adamou.

I seem to remember the commentator at Bentley Drivers Club Silverstone describing that car as looking like a rabbit blancmange....
