The Gilbert

At the Pomeroy on Saturday I met the Houses, pere et fils, and the younger, Dominic, was clutching a camera that must have cost more than his Morgan, and boldly stated that he was intending to win back the famed 'Gilbert Trophy' that I snatched from his grasp last year.

Well, sorry Dom but I am confident that I already have the winning picture in my portfolio, even at this early point in the season. My 'John Bevan in Full Munching Mode' is without doubt unbeatable, however, you will have to wait for the Drivers dinner to see it.

Despite the fact that first place is assured, there is no reason why more Paparazzi should not try and beat Mr House back in to third, fourth place, or even further down the rankings, so fit a new roll of film in to your Box Brownie, dubbin the bellows on your old Roliflex, charge up the battery on your mobile phone and join in the fun of taking embarrassing pictures of your fellow Morgan types. After all with the likes of Jerry Knight, Peter Rafter, Leigh Sebba, and .... well...!
Plenty of material to choose from.

Bob GT Holder.

Dear Peter, much to my chagrin you appear to have completely misinterpreted my last posting, thereby taking offence as evidenced by the tone of your reply. No, no Peter, I simply meant that the sight of that Parfait, Gentle Knight, with his distinguished .. nay, noble countenance, that graces the paddock, along with your own manly figure and rugged good looks that so raise the tone of any event you attend, when allied to the hirsute charms of Mr Sebba, must inevitably give any camera wielding member of the public, images that would inspire them to genius.
While you may endeavour to disguise your natural comportment with a kind of shabby chic style of dress, your instinctive military bearing can not be hidden. Do not be surprised to find yourself besieged by adoring young ladies pleading for a 'selfie' with you this season.

I remain your, opinionated, self absorbed, self regarding, narcissistic, snapper,

Bob.

Bob You can scar a person for life with inopportune and ill chosen words.

Take offence! “ I have of late – but wherefore I know not – lost all my mirth” -‘with wings as swift / As meditation, or the thoughts of love,’ we should ‘sweep to revenge’ -
How can we three knights (ok perhaps only Jerry) show our displeasure and vent our outrage? What forfeit? Will the supplicant on bended knee with fulsome remorse and penitence in plain view suffice? Stay. Cry not those words of “Will no one rid me of this meddlesome p…….”

On the other hand Bob, sycophancy becomes you. although others may feel you have been less than fulsome in your praise.

In order to drum up interest in the Gilbert this season I invite entries for a simple caption competition. In no more than six words complete the following sentence;

"The three ...................................:

The winner will probably need to wear shin guards at the dinner. :D

Gracious! I had not realised that the MSCC was a secure institution. You learn something new every day.
