The first official international motor race was at Bexhill on Sea on Bank holiday weekend May 1902 . This earned it the title of "Birthplace of British Motor Racing "

ask Bob .
I have seen a photograph of a car that went off the 300ft cliff ! Interestingly it was mixed sex races . I suspect the social side was pretty breathtaking .

Ahhh, but I was asking for "a motorsport venue in England that is older than any of those and is still used regularly..." #-o
Shelsley dates from 1905 and is still active whereas, although you are right in saying Bexhill started earlier (in 1902), the last real motor sport event there was held in 1925 after which the Royal Automobile Club withdrew permits on public highways - although from 1990 to 2002 there was a "Bexhill 100 Festival of Motoring" event...
Sorry Jerry but Leigh still wins the non-existent prize! =D>

No surprises Jerry.
Simon has close affiliations (sic) with the Insurance fraternity, and you know what they are like on reading the small print snd multitudinous exclusions.
I recall ploughing the verge on a visit, or was that Prescott? probably both.
Simon, unless you borrow Bobs press bib you won't be able to go to the Siverstone double header.

Simon I am very disappointed . you cant really expect me to read and understand the whole question surely ?
You can race the Bexhill course anytime you like although probably best late at night when nobody is around .

I want a non-existent prize !

Actually now I have read your reply properly i have won . your underlined text read " still used regularly " Bexhill is used every day as it is a normal road ! So there [-X [-X why isnt there a smilie with his tongue out .

Oh dear and well done Jerry.
I have never been to Shelsley, and as you say Bexhill was a race it is a more appropriate answer for this page.
Shelsley belongs on the speed series chat page

Good effort Leigh , I think a dead heat is called for ! If you keep the non existent trophy for 6 months and then hand it to me for the next 6 months .

Thank you Mary but what on earth were you doing up at that time of Day ?
