I fear that the self isolating/stay at home proposals under consideration by the present Government for the over 70's will greatly reduce the entry lists in almost all forms of racing including our beloved Challenge series. Woe and thrice Woe
What to do, pray?

Welsh Phil, fine fellow
It has been reported that certain ethnic minorities are doubly vulnerable to all manner of infections, pestilence and plagues.
I do hope ypur good lady, if not your handmaiden has stocked up on lava bread.
ps
Do you realise that under the HSE recommendations that you should keep a distance of at least one meter behind the car in front....could cramp your style
pps
unless of course you are way out front...

In view of the current situation it might be wise to keep on the right side (metaphorically) of our beloved Phill. I for one always thought him a jolly good fella, and a very fine driver.

I am currently isolated but as yet not quarantined in the depths of mainland Europe and after a prolonged but fruitless search for my last will and Testament my anxious Children and even remote relatives haveurged me to return to "this sceptered isle" Pronto. Given the current pandemonium, this is not as simple as it sounds. Crisis communication by well intentioned Governmnets and a plethora of pseudo experts etc has acted like a tsunami spreading panic across Europe. many areas are in total lockdown, and travel in or out is severely restricted.

My plan to return to the UK is
a) wear a white coat and assume the status of an emergency medico
b) steal a russian military plane and fly very low and fast to Sheffield (a la Clint) avoiding radar and bird sanctuaries
c) swim the channel and hitch hike from Dover
d) dig a tunnel under the border (s)
e) cough sneeze and splutter uncontrolably and gibber unintelligably in Italian. Then as the border control panic and run for safety, I make a bolt for it
f) hole up in a Michelin star restaurant and eat my way through the menu and sample wine list for the next fortnight or longer
g) feel my way cautiously through the minefield at the dead of night
h) claim diplomatic immunity
i) Await the Trump silver bullet
j) Plan B
ps
To the Brands Hatch Mafia the Hotel Silva is closing until who knows when (When is Spa?)

The latest information from MSUK today 17th March 2020 is posted on the Morgan Challenge web site. I will try to keep this information up to date but there seems little prospect of anything happening any time soon.

MSV (Motor Sport Vision) is allowing semi-exclusive and general test days on MSV circuits .
So the situation is either hopeless but not serious or serious but not hopeless.
They will write ballads about this.
In the meantime I am restricted to only driinking wine that kills germs.

Track days also seem to be operating and MSV have put relaxed rules in place so don't have to cram a 100 people into Snetterton café.

arrrghhhhh!.
spasibo
With incredible ingenuity, not a little cunning, nay deviousness, and some intrepid determination, and at great peril to my health and wellbeing I ducked and dived across closed frontiers and managed to evade the vigilantes and minions manning the borders of this great European hegemony and wend my way back to Blighty. Thereafter, some considerable expense in a stress related ECG (Bruce protocol), and a Racing Licence, and prepping the pretty red car for the season. Could all be for naught. If so I will demand that licence fees are rolled over for 2021. However, realism trumps idealism.
ps
this will also impact on Le mans Classic..

Latest update today 24th March.
Motorsport UK have suspended all organising permits until 30th June. This means that Pembrey is now cancelled and we expect Spa to be too but Katy Thompson is waiting for confirmation.
