Cable brakes frightening, bet you don’t have spare cables a genuine steering box or adjustable track rod ends in your emporium ~ or perhaps you do!!

Which reminds me of an event I was on many years ago with George Proodfoot in his series 1 when it damaged a distributor cap, stopping at the next garage we joined the queue of competitors wanting an escort starter motor, Cortina fan belt, Marina half shaft etc to which the answer was sorry don’t have one in stock. George bless him simply said ~ have a distributor cap for a 36 climax ~ to which the parts man turned round took one off the shelf and said £1.50 OK with you ~ Priceless

There's nothing wrong with cable brakes, they are very efficient. I remember Smithy adjusting them on HG by twanging the cables until they all played the right tune!

I also remember a scrutineer at Silverstone when I presented HG for scrutineering asking if he could see the reservoir. I was puzzled and said "Reservoir???" He patronisingly said "Brake fluid reservoir" in the sort of voice people use when explaining something to a person who doesn't speak English. So I just opened the bonnet and said in the same tone of voice "It has cable brakes....!" :-#
