With the Toyota expiring on the last lap yesterday (could you believe it?) handing the win to Porsche for the 18th time, it made me think.

How many finishes at Le Mans have these pre war Morgans racked up?

No prizes but the answer may surprise you (or not?)

......perhaps the Toyota team should have gone to Brian's!!

John’s car – 2002,4,6,8 = 4
My car – 2010,12,14 = 3
Simon’s – 2014

Total 8

Why I venture here I do not know, but if JC is hinting at a surprise, might you need to consider pre war races? I have no idea, but I suspect Mr Clarke has prepared an ambush for unsuspecting pundits.

OK , JC I'll revise my answer and add 1937 and 1938 to the list, making 11 appearances, as I was not yet one year old at the time it was easy to forget that first race.

Perhaps we should all read you book, after all.

What is the prize, by the way.

My car did 1938 and 1939 (not 1937)

So that makes 10 :)

A Series 1 raced at Le Mans in 1937/8/9 according to my expert research. Post war I rely on your figures, Leigh.

1937 Prudence Fawcett and Geoff White.

1939 Dick Anthony and Geoff White

Can not trace 1938 for sure.

Pre war 1938 & 39. No Morgans entered in 1937.

My final answer is two pre war and 8 post war, thus 10 in total. Beaten by Leigh again.

OK - I'll put you out of your misery

John’s car (SL 2490) – 2002,4,6,8 = 4
Leigh's car (FXD 280) – 1938, 1939, 2010,12,14 = 5
Simon’s car (DLJ 208) – 2014
Adrian's car (DOH 31) - 2006

Answer, 10 Le Mans finishes for the photographed cars

11 Le Mans finishes for all pre war Morgans

Quite remarkable really. Hopefully, more finishes to come.

Toyota might want to take note.

cheers

john

Just two pre-war finishes in the full 24 hours for Leigh's car then?
