standard specials

The car is now with the upholsterers being coddled, but soon it will return and I will have to address the business of it sounding like a bag of spanners and going even worse. I need to sit in a well sorted Series 1 SS 4/4 to see how they should go, I don't remember this one being as bad as it now is.
We are up in Middlesbrough, but we do visit the SE via the A19 and A1 regularly, so any offers of a ride in a Standard Special to check out performance would be much appreciated.
I keep seeing Tony Lees' name in the Series 1 topics and I think that he/you wrote to me, many years ago, when I first started to rebuild the car. If that was you then many thanks, I hope I thanked you at the time!
