Hi Bob
I have posted a race report of sorts in the Morgan Challenge private section... maybe that will keep you going until Michelle's official report arrives...

Mary
Any idea who won the handicap? I have never understood how it was calculated so the winner is always to a surprise!!! And if you need a few racing photos in Bob's absence, let me know as I was there with my trusty camera!

Best wishes
Simon

As Bob might not have access to the private part of this forum I have copied your excellent précis and here it is:
It was great to catch up with "the gang" at Brands. Must admit that I was very impressed by the racing! =D>

As Bob is pining for a race report of some sort, maybe this will quell his impatience:

Jack and Mary had a hum-dinger in the first race until Jack unfairly gained a weight advantage by jettisoning his rear number plate. Kelvin would have been proud of Alex chasing down and passing Peter Cole. And John Bevan seemed to be having great fun at the back in my old car. Up front, that smoked salmon man was as impressive as ever, taunting Phil Tisdall by backing off in the drizzle before driving off into the distance again to win.

In the "other" race Dominic House seemed to have held off the challenge of Simon O-G in his new ARV6 until an off track moment exiting Paddock Hill. Greg in his roofless Aero fought hard with Craig in the factory car, whilst Tony on the other side of the factory garage was an early retirement with mechanical gremlins. Roger Whiteside and Tony Lees seemed to be enjoying themselves, dicing hard whilst Russell Paterson in 99OK and the fast starting Phil Goddard vainly chased Keith who looked comfortable up front.

The combined race provided an excellent spectacle, making up for the reduced numbers entered for the meeting. With Keith non starting, Phil nipped into an early lead with Russell chasing him down, before spinning and rejoining at Druids. Unbeknown to Russell, he need not have chased as hard as Phil was adjudged to have jumped the start and was handed a 10 second penalty which even allowed Patterson junior through into second place making it a very happy conclusion for all those from Revolutions... Further back, Tom Dailey, my old sparring partner from Class E, had an impressive race in his class H car, passing Jack and Peter Cole with daring moves at Paddock Hill before losing the place again by being too kind to the leaders when they rocketed past. Simon O-G was obviously having a difficult time getting to grips with his new steed, almost spinning exiting Clearways one lap before pirouetting in the same place on the final tour.

I am not convinced it was always that exciting from inside the cockpit but maybe my memory is already fading!

Hope you all continue to have a great season. I will watch out for the results with great interest! :)
I didn't even know there was a handicap but here is a link to the results:

I always thought that was a very sensible decision.

Excellent job Simon, lacks a certain joivre le vie, well no one seems to have been insulted, but very readable, so I now look forward to your photographic efforts as Brands is a good place for pictures.

Can anyone report on a homeward journey via the Blackhole Tunnel? I hope it was fraught with delay and frustration, as this would make missing the meeting less irksome.

M25 north was most suitable for boating. If that helps.

Many thanks to our literary and photographic contributors.

As for the weather on the M25, Jack says that he had the hood down and could hardly see the road in front of him it was raining so hard. Imagine his irritation when a car overtook him with the passenger filming his discomfort…. That must be on YouTube somewhere!

Did anyone take pictures of the Morgan parade at Brands Hatch or know anyone who did?

Charles Neal was taking photos, not sure if took any of the parade.
Dominic House was there too - maybe he did?

Thanks Mary, I have contacted Charles, and he will check what he has, a member is looking for anything with his car. Interestingly MSV tell me that I was the only person to apply for accreditation to the meeting, although some permanent Press Pass holders might have been there.

The MSCC needs more publicity it seems. 8-[

Pity they couldn't be more communicative with you before the event in time to send you the necessary paperwork!
Sorry you weren't there.
