Lew Spencer

Post by Mary Lindsay »

Here is a copy of a posting on Facebook by Kas Kastner with some sad news about a great American Morgan racer:
I want to inform racers that my best friend, the great Morgan and Team Cobra driver, Lew Spencer, died on Monday the 20th of this month. Lew had been going slowly down in his fight with Alzheimer's and tough guy that he was he finally lost that battle this week. Wish him well, a fine man and terrific driver.
Kas also posted a photo with the comment:
This photo is of me racing against my great and best friend Lew Spencer in his fast Morgan. This is the day we were racing so hard we did not see the chequered flag and raced hard on the cool off lap. Meantime Ronnie Bucknum in his 356 Porsche was sitting at the starter stand having won the race and we did not know or acknowledge it was over until we came to the line the second time side by side.
I will try to publish the photo later on.
