Race Suits

Post by Richard Smith »

Following Curborough, where we all soaked in a bit of rain, my race suit has now dried out, but smells a bit musty. What's the best way to deal with race suits? It is not reasonable to have them dry cleaned after each outing, and I don't want to compromise the integrity of its flame retarding quality, but is it ok to spray with Fabreeze or some other fabric freshener?

Or should I be macho and not care? !!!!!

Just hauled mine out of a cool delicates wash after the drenching we had at Silverstone. Then drip dry.

Apparently, you can dry-clean nomex race suits but all mine get bunged in the washer (with help from her indoors)

Happy washing

Usually you will find washing instructions on a label sewn into the overalls.
I agree with John, mine just go into the machine on a delicates setting and then drip dry. Dark colours fade in the sun so I suggest if this matters to you you hang them indoors on a hanger.

I used to get my overall dry cleaned but it was too expensive.

These days I put them in the washing machine for a wool wash and then hang them up inside out to drip dry.

Now, anyone need tips on how to iron a shirt?

of course I can advise on the cleaning of overauls/ironing of shirts !!

just give them to your Wife..

I must admit its a bit worrying Keith -- You understand how a washing machine works??

The next step is you look at your ring finger to find out what is left or right!!

Thanks for the advice, it's nice to know I am with such a clean-living, domesticated group. I will get SatNav on to it after my next hill climb.

Is this an in joke for the Curborough set or has it some deeper significance? :?:
