AVO Adjustable Dampers

Post by peterturner »

I am just about to install AVO adjustable dampers to my T16 +4
Has anyone got any suggestions for the settings please?
The rest of the suspension is standard at the moment.

Thanks- Peter Turner

Peter

I run mine on the road at about 6-8 clicks and on the track at around 16-18 clicks, when its wet i leave them at the road settings.

Thanks for that Dave, I'll go with that.
Probaly see you in class 6 next season so I hope that you haven't been going too fast this year.

Have you got a new car Peter?

I have my Avo's set to David's road setting for the sprints which is probably one of the many reasons he's much quicker than me! Funny he never mentioned it before.

Hi Chris,

Yes I finally found one, had to go nearly up to the frozen north to get it though.
That should make 3 of this in this class now next season- look forward to seeing you.

Thanks Tim - Anymore of that and I will need more kleenex.
By the way, good result at Wiscombe, it must have been weird in the dry!

Peter
I can assure you that photo was not digitally enhanced in any way.
Hope to be at Castle Combe next season.

Depends which ones you have.

AVO has always made dampers they sold for Morgans..but they were/are not very good.

However, a couple of years ago, David Rutherford, the Morgan suspension guru, worked with AVO directly and designed dampers to HIS specifications. They have different dampening rates than the AVOs referred to above and are super. They are commonly referred to as Rutherford AVOS to distinguish and cannot be purchased through AVO or a AVO distributor..only a distributor of Rutherford products.

They come pre-adjusted in Rutherford's recommended road settings. At the rear, that is the lowest setting which matches KONIs lowest dampening rate. In the front, I road test them and normally increase them two adjustments up.

BTW, the adjustment feature on any damper will disappear in time if not used regularly. With KONI's, the adjustment feature becomes ineffective after the first time you bottom out.

Hi,

Thanks for the information. After I read this I went for a trawl on the internet and came up with your webpage on this subject which could be useful to other competitors, so hope you don't mind - for the benefit of everyone else. http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/shocks.html
