said to be a 67 Super Sport

Post by larry emrick »

Super Sport chassis number 6290 has been listed for sale with dealer winningmakes in California. It surfaced at the online auction site Bring a Trailer in 2022 but apparently stopped at $70,000 US, 58K pounds. It is still on the winningmakes site but no price mentioned.
It was listed on BaT as a 45-years-owned 1967 Morgan Plus 4 Super Sport. It is on the Super Sport list and photos of the chassis and engine number CT 65974 on BaT are confirmed on the list. It has a Morgan Motor Company Chassis Record that also confirms the numbers
Interestingly, it's right hand drive, although dispatched from the factory to the US. There's no indication of a competition pedigree.
Dozens of photos seem to show it in extremely original immaculately-kept condition with only 36 k miles.

Hi Kevin,

That is still a good price for a genuine Supersports - all the ones for sale in the UK and Europe are over £100,000...

Although of course you have got to get it back from the States.

However I see that Brands Hatch Morgans have still got VOC 365 for sale...

This is the ex: PIp Arnold Lowline Supersports he had built up with Peter Morgans blessing and input by the factory and Vic Champness - so you know its the best.

As you probably know Pip raced TOK and owned Old TOK before he bought and raced the lowline Supersports XRX 1.

BHM have got it up for £59,500 - you certainly couldn't build it for anywhere near that nowadays.

I see in the single picture it hasn't got its Lawrencetune hardtop but I know Pip had one fitted originally. Maybe there is a deal to be done...?!

Cheers,

Mark

For the sake of clarity I should add that VOC 365 is a Supersports replica - not one of the originals...

Hi Mark

Can't see VOC365 on BHM's stock list but I see that Richard Thorne is still listing your car.
