I have two sets of rear grp wings John, One pair red, need a bit of work, and one pair of dark green. If you want cheap new ones, I have a contact.

Hello John,

Good to see you at the Birkett flying the 4-seater flag 8-)

Have you tried 'Super Sid' Watson who often advertises in Miscallany - excellent fibreglass man.

Send me a message if you need contact details.

Incidentally, when I went to collect my set of wings from Sid, I hired a van: but subsequently found out that I could get a complete set of +8 wings in my Focus. Just thought I'd mention it.

Yes please Mark. How much do you want for it?
Richard- thanks for the advice, will try to collect in my Saab estate. Are the rear wings lighter than aluminium? My rear wings are alloy, it is just the front of the car that is heavy steel! Presumably Sid Watson is the GRP source of wings?
Andy , thanks, enjoyed the Birkett if a little scary. Is your GRP source the same as Richard?

not a clue about the weight John, it depends how much you have to trim off to make them fit, comparing weights as they are now without measuring etc might give false info.

Two sources of f/glass wings: Sid as Andy said, who makes superb stuff: mine are straight from the moulds, nothing else done except for smoothing down the mould joint lines near the headlamps. My other contact has really cheap ones made, but they are thinner than Sids and don't have the raised bit along the edge. Let me know if you want to talk to him, though he will be at the NEC on Friday. I can put you in touch.

me I know nothing  but don't the regs say fiberglas wings have to be the same weight as fitted by the factory?

That is the case as far as Sprint regs go, so I suppose it's the same for race. Mind you, by the time I had taken them off, they were weighed down with filler and duck tape.

My wings were originally supplied by Dave Rutherford (Rutherford Engineering) and Sid Watson has taken all Dave's moulds and is now supplying all the fibreglass wings and things (but not the hardtops) Dave used to make.

You might want to get a new matched pair from him John but if you want this n/s/f I can drop it over to the NEC some time over the weekend. How does £100 sound?

Cheers

Hello again John,

The current (2011) Racing Regs specify :-
GRP wings of road weight, conforming to the thickness of samples held by the Judge of Fact.
An attempt to avoid super-lightweight racing items !

My Sid is the same as Richard's Sid, I don't know his other contact.

Anyway, keep up the good work with the 4/4 4-seater 8-)

I think it is the same Sid for all of us!

If you let me have your mobile John I will ring you to meet up on Saturday.

You can always PM me if you don't want to disclose it on open forum.

Cheers

Will make sure they are suitably heavy!

PS Tony- is there any rule banning yellow cars?
