1959 Morgan +4 Babydoll

Post by jochem kentgens1 »

For sale: original Morgan Plus Four Babydoll. One of 19 factory original delivered Babydoll cars (also known as Sebring Competition cars). Car was dispatched from the factory in december 1959 and delivered new in 1960 to Lew Spencer Imports in California. The car was originally deliverd with its current full aluminium body, wings and bonnets. The original bodywork still on the car today (very thin aluminium with the correct numbers in). The car is RHD (as originally delivered) which indicates a very likely competition history (as do holes that indicate previous mounting of a rollbar). Authenticity of the car confirmed by Hermen Pol. History is however unknown until the mid-nineties when the car was sold to the UK and in 1997 the car came to Holland. The car was restored and the engine and gearbox overhauled here in the Netherlands (invoice of 12K Euros in the file). The paint is in good condition. Car has the original TR3 engine, no matching number engine as with most competition cars of that era. Most beautiful Morgan ever built, with the strong 2 ltr TR engine and two seater body. The car is in good condition. Mechanically very good (engine and gearbox and differential). Runs very well with good oil pressure, never misses a beat and produces a lovely exhaust sound. Chassis and woodwork in good condition. Nice paint and good bodywork. Occasional crack in the paint and there. New black leather. Painted wire wheels with spinners and Michelin tyres. The car comes with a Lawrence Tune hardtop. Very nice car and very collectable car. Most ideal for historic racing as the car fits in the pre-1962 class for prestigious events. Car is in Amsterdam (Holland) very near to Schiphol airport. Private sale, great opportunity for someone who wants a very rare Morgan to go racing, rallying or for normal road use. Car is road registered in Holland, has full MOT and is very reliable. Asking 45.000 UK Pounds ono.

Well done Jochem. Good news!

Is it staying in Holland - or going further abroad?!

Cheers

Hi Mark,

Actually sold the car back in May already to a customer of Richard Thorne's so it will reside (and hopefully race) soon at circuits near you....

Great car, will make a lovely early racer.

Hope you are well!
