2005 British GT Championship Silverstone 8th - 9th October

Post by Andy Downes »

The Final two rounds of the British GT Series take place at Silverstone (International) this weekend (8th-9th October).

No timetable yet but Keith and Olver clocked 1.28.675 in Free Practice yesterday and must be pretty familiar with Silverstone following their recent 24 Hour exploits.

There is Qualifying for both races today, then a 1 hour race this afternoon and another tomorrow afternoon.

More later as soon as I get some information.

Have (GT) Fun

Race 1
1 35 GT2 Kinch/Kirkaldy Ferrari 360 GTC
2 34 GT2 Niarchos/Mullen Ferrari 360 GTC
3 55 GT2 Cunningham/Collins Porsche RSR
4 22 GT2 Jones/Jones Porsche GT3
5 77 GT2 Jordan/Caine Porsche RS
6 9 GT3 Murphy/McKellar Porsche GT3 Cup
7 30 INV Rich/Westwood Porsche GT3
8 96 GT3 Moseley/Quaife Porsche GT3 Cup
9 23 GT3 Britnell/Faulkner Porsche GT3
10 12 GT3 Burton/Wilcox Ferrari 360 C
11 10 GT2 Bentwood/Reid Nissan 350 Z
12 25 INV Masarati/Fordyce Porsche 996 GTC
13 15 GT3 Attard/Adams Ferrari 360
14 32 INV Hay/Britnell Porsche Gt3
15 11 GT3 Bryant/Ahlers Morgan Aero 8 GT
16 21 GT3 Lester/Lynch Ferrari 360
17 4 GT2 Griffin/Brody Vauxhall Monaro

As usual the Aero 8's race pace is much closer to its qualifying pace than many of the other cars - resulting in a climb from 10th in Class on the Grid to 6th at the Finish.

Another good result, the car will be running with at least 30 kg of 'success ballast' following the win last time out at Mondello. A quick word with Keith revealed a very wet race "the car got hit twice, but nothing to worry about !". Also that the runner-up spot in the GT3 Drivers Championship has three contenders within 2 points of each other - one of whom is Oliver Bryant so all to play for in Race 2 tomorrow.

I'll report back when I return from Silverstone in the evening - Many Thanks again to Keith for making available some entry passes.

Have Fun (one more time).

A trouble-free run for the Aero 8 today, Olly Bryant running the opening stint right to the end of the driver-change window at 37 minutes and Keith the meat in a Ferrari sandwich at the end.

The Morgan Qualified 7th in Class/18th Overall and finished 5th in Class/14th Overall - at 20 minutes the position was 5th Class/16th Overall - at 40 minutes 4th Class/14th Overall.

A very good season, the car being its most reliable to date :-

Congratulations and Well Done to Keith & Olver and Billy & Ian.

News of the Driver standings and Team Championship to come later.

Thanks guys for some fantastic motor racing and making James and I so welcome in the pits - see you at the Birkett 6 Hour.
