Re: The Season Draws to a Close
The Season may well be 'drawing to a close' but this topic still has legs, and, hopefully, a distance to run, or in Morgan parlance, plenty of laps left.
Somehow, and as always I am not sure how, I have got the redoubtable Mrs. Lindsay all over me once again, and I fear to venture to less populated areas of the paddock for fear of being cornered by a towering presence.
I was thinking about some grovelling apology - a few words about her prowess as a racing driver, maybe praise for her sandwich making ability, or comment upon her personal beauty, however, I fear that none of these would appease the fury of woman spurned, or whatever.
Perhaps a low profile for a few hours might do the trick after all ..........................

Perhaps you could qualify this remark? It threatens to besmirch my reputation.I have got the redoubtable Mrs. Lindsay all over me once again
Nunaya Nonsense
No fear of that Bobby Boy but I could easily kick your shins.for fear of being cornered by a towering presence

Now, see how easy it would be for me to write some cocky riposte to this remark?Mary Lindsay wrote:It threatens to besmirch my reputation.
Pure provocation, but I shall not take the bait, I will refrain from heightening the tension by making any injudicious insertions.

I think that this topic has run it's course, as we seem to have exhausted the supply of 'silly names', so it is now officially closed.

Is that a challenge Miss Renata?
Rest assured I can still bandy words, or legs, with the best of them, I felt, given the long string of somewhat sparse replies, that inspiration was in short supply amongst the 83 respondents to-date.
I believe, morgan I can say, that plus four more replies will ensure max concentration from those who dare to venture into the fray.
Before replying, as you undoubtedly will, might I suggest that you take a crash course on repairing bent motor cars, this should aid you in passing the long winter evenings in a useful and industrious manner, prior to returning to the tracks ready and able to beat Mr C Barr. Other than that lees said the better, and acklaim will surely come your way as the rest of the field shears away from your trusty Bobdog. Plant yourself at the head of the grid, and when the lights turn green head for goddards, assuming it is Donington, if it is Cadwell make sure you are first over the mountain. In case of a puncture jack up the car and pay the billy do. Then when tis'd all done spray a fountain of champers to the rafters, and to hill with the cost. You will only be a singleton entry, no doubt, and the clark of the course will probably provide toast over the embers on the hearth. Others may have rush t'on, while some may potter round especially if there are rivers across the track, but if sumner is over and darkness is falling your headlights will pearce the gloom, and as long as you keep it wight side up there should be no thorn in your side. On the way home if your progress is not interupted by a police sergeant who will have laid law abiding advice on you, why not stop at McDonalds and spring all of the crew a burger. When you arrive safely home veer house side of the drive and park in the lee of the garage.
Hope this provides stimulus and inspiration in all of your endeavours,
Very best wishes,
Greg O'Reous.

Dear Miss Kitty Littertrip,
Please remember in all of your postings that I am a man of delcate sensibilities, gentle of nature, and easily wounded by any undue criticism of my efforts.
You should know that my adage is 'never give offence, and never take offence', this is the maxim I live by!
I defy anyone to find any person who frequents this site that may have felt derided, insulted, diminished, defamed or belittled by anything I have ever written on the forum.
With this in mind I would earnestly request that you modify your tone when answering this item, and to bear in mind that I am a real person with tender feelings.
I remain your obedient servant,
Les Ovitt.
