Hi Sam,

If they are my old carbs they are much rarer than common or garden 45 DCOE's!

They are actually 42 DCOE carbs as originally fitted to the Supersports ex: works.

What's more I bought them from a chap called Peter Clarke who worked at the Triumph Competition Department in the 1960's and looked after the works race TR4s and Le Mans Spitfires.

He remembers racing against Chris Lawrence back in the day and my carbs were off one of the works cars when they upgraded to 45 's.

As you all know Morgan and Chris Lawrence used these carbs as they were surplus to requirements when Maserati changed to fuel injection for the 3500 GTi. That meant they bought them cheap!

However I understand they are now very desirable for Maseratis so perhaps the ad should be on the Maserati Owners Club website ...

Cheers

Hi Sam,

Always pleased to put you straight!

Those TriumphTune inlet manifolds are a bit special too...

The Red car is also fitted with 42 DCOE carbs - and original Lawrencetune inlet manifolds...

Cheers

So I understand!

They have gone to a good home - who didn't realise he wanted them until I told him!

The story is all told in The Automobile magazine.

Have a great Christmas Sam and look forward to seeing you on a windswept airfield race track sometime in 2016...

Cheers

Mark
