Re: Mystery Mog
Absolutely no information at all!
The photo was sent to me in the hope that I could help.
It looks more like a rally or a speed event judging by the straw bales and wired fence.

Re: Mystery Mog
There is a Lotus Elite in the background on what look like a closed public road, not many of those on the UK mainland. Maybe Ireland somewhere?
The Elite was launched in 1958 so a wide range of years to research. The Mog carried no. 110, so quite likely a rally, but the numbers on the two cars are not standard, maybe a low key event, not national status.

Re: Mystery Mog
Interesting you say that Bob.
The Morgan has got the roof on.
Morgans had to run 'closed' if an International FIA sanctioned event.
This is why Chris Lawrence experimented with several hardtop designs before coming up with the classic Lawrencetune design we all use to this day.
Privateers (ie. not a member of the Lawrencetune clique) did not have the benefit of hardtop development so simply ran with the hood up.
Christopher Dormand Stewart did so in 37 CYT throughout his racing career.
That car was delivered to Chris painted White. He had it re- painted by Chris Lawrence BRG at the same time as he had the Lawrencetune mods to the engine in 1961/2.
Cheers

Re: Mystery Mog
Mary,
You have found another Mystery Mog!
Just look at all those lovely old photos of the Flat Rad DHC in the link you have given us.
They are for sale by the same vendor as the crashed Morgan and are from a private collection of photos showing the Ivory drophead over a number of years.
Frustratingly I can't read the registration number.
Bob - can you identify it?
Cheers

Re: Mystery Mog
I can't see anywhere that the car is confirmed as a 4/4 or +4 but I think we are talking a racing +4 ? Take a look under the bonnet and it looks very much like a TR engined car to me !!!

Re: Mystery Mog
Its John McClay in his Plus 4 registration number 232 MTF but not sure of the venue. I will do some more digging!! The photo would have to be pre the end of 1966 as the car was sold to the current owner in 1967..... who still has it to this today!! This car has a fantastic period race history and was at lots of the period big events of the day. .

Mary - scroll down to the very bottom of the page
There are several lovely period photos available.
Richard - that would be the right period as the car has sliding side screens. But I thought 232 MTF was BRG?
Cheers
