Relatives
Richard Smith is preparing an article for Miscellany re dads and their sons and daughters,
In reply I had penned a brief summary below. Have I missed or misrepresented anyone?
Richard Old Bean,
Look no further than the AR Motorsport Morgan Challenge, a vibrant and emorphing Fambly with an eclectic caste system (Car and Driver), multiple ethnic minorities and Foreigners, and a widening age and senility range. It is and has been a a heady mix of Captains of Industry, Legal Eagles, Entrepreneurs, Tax Exiles, Landed Gentry, Grandees, Farmers, Medics, Orphans, Technical Gurus, Morgan Family, Shareholder, Employee , Agents and Preparers, Foreigners, bewildered and confused Pensioners, Grand parents, and shy retiring Wallflowers. “Oh happy band of brothers”
There be Spouses, Father and Sons, Father and Daughters, Siblings,
From memory (albeit fading):
Spouses—Goddard (Philip and Sharlie), Sherry (Simon and Kath), Bailey (Chris and Michelle), Shears (Mark and Suzanne)
Fathers and Sons —Patterson (Russell and Elliot), House (Alan and Dominic), Sumner (Barry, James and Ian), Laidlaw (Kelvin and Alex), Plant (Richard and Will) Bellinger (Jack and Billy), Sargeant (Peter and Will), Bryant (Grahame and Olly), Carter ( Richard and James) Pearce (Tim and Robin)
Fathers and Daughters—Sebba (Leigh and Tamsin), Thorne (Richard and Helen)
Siblings—Sumner (James and Ian)
Someone should write a book.

Re: Relatives
Very impressive.
Where are the Mothers and sons / daughters ?
Prudence’s son is more into Bugattis
Mary L I think started on the road to son driving but never got there yet.
Tamsin has a one year old so maybe in a few years……?
But none of us will surpass the Bentley Morleys with three generations in the same race

Re: Relatives
Hi Peter,
Well researched! But I must point out that Suzanne is a) not my wife and b) her surname is nearly the same as mine but without an H.
I did however introduce her to my sister Susan at BDC Silverstone a couple of years ago to keep the names even more confusing...!
Suzanne Sears meet Susan Shears, Susan Shears meet Suzanne Sears...
Thought I ought to put the record straight for future generations...!
Cheers
Mark

Re: Relatives
Suzanne Sears is partner of James Paterson who did race in the series but not sure if she ever raced the Morgan.
Another regular father & son Morgan team ( but not in the challenge but in historic) are Kremers

Re: Relatives
Leigh,
I recall following Suzanne who was driving plus 8 down the Hangar straigh tat Silverstone some 8 or 9 years ago. My natural gentlemanly instincts (or lack of ability) hindered my overtaking manoeuvre at Brooklands / Luffield, and a subsequent missed gear, or blinding sun, or oil on track, or slippery surface , or traffic (perm any one from five , or indeed all of these) may have contributed to her exiting out of Woodcote and disappearing out of sight.
regards

Re: Relatives
Suzanne is of course closely related to the great Jack Sears, after whom Sears corner at Snetterton was named.
It is a great shame that corners at Snetterton have been re-named thus erasing the history of this marvellous circuit.

Ah - a man with an apostrophe!
That is a good compromise!
Although if it was named after Jack Sears the apostrophe should be after the S...
