Le Mans Classic 2008

Post by John Clarke »

We received the final grids for the Le Mans Classic 2008 this morning. There will be a reserve grid but as yet this has not been annonunced.

There are 3 Mogs competing this year in the final list:

Plateau 1: 1938 Morgan 4-4LM To be driven by the 'A' team of Tony Lees, Richard Plant and Leigh Sebba

Plateau 3; 1959 Morgan +4 'XOV'. Adrian Van Der Kroft and Chris Conoley

Plateau 4; 1956 Morgan +4 'TOK'. Lists Keith Ahlers only for now.

I had a quick squiz through the other competitors but couldn't see any other Mog men driving non Mogs. Perhaps someone could advise if I missed some one.

The ‘A' Team ?? I recall that was a gang of cartoon hooligans from the early 1980s. Some guy called Mr T who I don’t think resembled Tony, or Richard or myself ?

But we are honoured to drive the car John.

John

I'll be there in my TR2 (Grid 2) as part of the 10/10ths team.

Mark was out in this TR2 at the MG Car Club International meeting at Silverstone for a shake down. Have to say, 30 minutes battling with an Alfa was some shakedown Mark!! Was good to watch and pleased to see that the Alfa was behind at the end.

Tony Lees and Richard Plant are at Silverstone Tuesday evening with me to shake down the Series 1. John Emberson and Bill Wyckham will be shaking John's +4 and Adrian and Chris Conerly 'XOV'..!! Here's hoping that after a good shake all cars are passed fit and ready for Le Mans.

Just had a quick look at the results, and it appears that congratulations are in oredr for all Mog competitors. But particularly Keith for a P1 on 'compensed' time and John Emberson/Bill Wykeham P3 in their grid, Adrian VdK's P8 (P6 compensed) in his grid, and Lees/Plant/Sebba's beast a compnsed P14 (out of 60+) in theirs.

Stories no doubt to follow...................
