Post by peter rafter »

for all you aeroplane buffs, a friend has sent me an old wartime newsreel of mosquito manufacture in australia (yea verily ye penal colony0 r, complete with gung- ho commentary, and appropriate music-- newsreels how they used to be
waxing lyrical about fueselage entirely made of wood and glue (sound familiar?) and engines secured with only 4 bolts!!!! (?)
if anybody wants a copy i will mail it offline

Peter,
Sounds very interesting, particularly as my Mother worked on Mosquito assembly at Borehamwood during the war. She was very proud of the fact that the Mossie was such a success, and smuggled out a bomb release, button, cover for me, against all of the rules of course.
There used to be a small museum near London Colney (St. Albans) dedicated to the aircraft, which may still be open. I could check if anyone was interested.
