I hear that they discovered the joys of paddling in the Silverstone pits during the Willhire 24 hour.

The Morgan Challenge team entry is:-
Keith Ahlers
Oliver Bryant
Rick Lloyd
Chris Williams
plus maybe a surprise guest!
Regretably, Rick Lloyd can't make it so he is replaced, I'm delighted to say, by ...............Chris Acklam.

From a very wet and windy Zolder. Best wishes, Keith.

Hmm, perhaps I'll be getting in the way rather more than I originally intended ... \:D/
Thanks Keith, and good luck in Zolder.

I feel obliged to post details of the ‘Holly’ Birkett 6 Hour Relay since it has such a long tradition with the Morgan Sports Car Club and also because my ‘Skipper’ signature tag was given to me by Kelvin Laidlaw and refers to my own exploits at this event.

It was also the first motor race I ever attended in 1974 – Bob Northover was Team Manager, Mary Lindsay was driving a Series 1 and Andy ‘mogman’ Garlick was running his yellow +4 with a supercharger.

2005 Birkett 6 Hour Relay

Handicap Result (Gross Laps)
8th - Morgans For Fun 300 laps
20th – Morgan Gentlemen 295 laps
32nd – Morgan Challenge 292 laps

Scratch result (Real laps)
5th - Morgan Challenge 285 laps
14th – Morgan Gentlemen 272 laps
16th – Morgans For Fun 270 laps

The weather mercifully stayed dry and we all had a ball – Many Thanks to all the helpers and spectators, it is particularly rewarding to see some of the youngsters getting involved as pit crew – James Downes, Alex Laidlaw and Gabrielle Orebi Gann – the next generation of competitors perhaps ?

Finally, if anyone has any photographs from the event I would love to see them - Email address available in the Forum's memberlist above.

Have (winter rebuild) Fun

I wonder how the '74 team would have got on on Saturday. Andy Garlick's +4 was pretty hairy when naturally aspirated. The Birkett relay was a great way to finish the season. Mary's Series 1 would have been vying for position with the Austin 7s and Bob Nothover would have been praying for a good result. No wonder the Skipper has been trying to make sense of it for the last 31 years! All credit to the 750MC for running such a super event and great that the three Morgan teams were together in the pits.
