Robin,
I am just off to the HSCC meeting at Silverstone, so I do not have time right now for a detailed explanation of the joke, however, the relevance of the 'Irish' connection is in the grave 'diggers' not the Admiral himself.

If I have caused you offence due to some celtic strain in the blood .... I a.........................!

Must dash,

Kind regards Me darlin',

Bob.

Robin,
Many thanks for up-dating me on the population of Essex, since they closed Boreham as a race track, one has little cause to go that far east.
I will have to study the list of members to see if I can spot the luminaries to whom you refer, as being more (even more?) famous than your good self! Do any of them race, do you know? I am at a loss to call to mind anybody from the county who might rank as famous, I wonder if Jack knows?

Oh! Try this one;

Why don't elephants like penguins?

Because they can't get the silver paper off.

Have a lovely day,

Bob.

"am at a loss to call to mind anybody from the county who might rank as famous......."

Well there's the famous Essex girls such as Mary Lindsay and Suzi Quatro (and I don't know if sahe drives an Audi)

I read in Mororsports Now (MSA mag) that a speed record was broken at Weathersfield (near Braintree)

Leigh

(Essex postcode but 100 yards into Suffolk)

Leigh,
You can't choose your parents, but you can choose your postcode, why not move further into Suffolk, and avoid the opprobrium of an Essex appelation?

Did you know that the German manufacturer you mentioned once produced a model aimed specifically at the Indian Sub Continent?

The Audi Urdu.

That joke made me laugh morgan I can say. To avoid Essex on should buy a Skoda ...the Skoda long way round.

Should someone advise Jack that John Smith is dead? Oh! Should you go to Braintree, Leigh, get one for Jack.

John Smith (Morgan gearbox and axle guru) is my brother and I spoke to him this afternoon so I think you are wrong there Bob. Maybe you should do some Morgan people history lessons to find out who's who and where they live.....

Mary,
I am very pleased to hear that your brother is alive and well, and guruing, with such an unusual name I wonder how I could have been so wrong!!

Anyway it is nice to be in contact with you again, I've missed your steadying influence on my posting.

Lots of love,

Bob. aka Robert.

Jack,
That's the stuff, keep 'em coming, the old ones are the best. (said 71 year old Bob)

The researcher asked the old Morgan driver, 'When did you last have sex?'

'1945', he replied.

'What, that long ago?'

'What do you mean? It's only 20.00 hundred hours now'

By the way, are there any more 'famous' people (related to Mary) living in Essex? I don't want to make a fool of myself again.

Reciprocated affection,

Bob.

He always stood behind her, a faithful loving spouse,
and while she went out racing, he stayed and cleaned the house.
Although he knew the Morgan, must cost her quite a packet,
He always seemed contented with a very old wax jacket.

Anon.

I found this verse in a 'Book of Essex Poetry' discovered at an autojumble in the 1950's.
