Snetterton Circuit - Changes plannedby Motorsport Vision

Post by Andy Downes »

With thanks to http://www.Dailysportscar.com

Just found details of new owner's (Jonathan Palmer's Motorsport Vision) plans for the development of Snetterton on Dailysportscar.

Also on a link here - http://www.sportinglife.com/others/news ... erton.html

"The proposals are now at the planning stages with the local councils around Snetterton, and include significant changes to the layout of the circuit itself, as well as the building of a brand new, state-of-the-art commercial complex called the Snetterton Business Park.

The circuit will be reworked after the 2006 season. The chicane at Russell will be removed and replaced by a hairpin corner, which will rejoin the Senna start/finish straight after a new, banked, left-hand turn. Meanwhile, Sear corner will be extended to be wider than its current profile, coming back in a sharp bend to rejoin the Revett Straight.

Another extension will be made to the track before Sear, bringing the track up to International length and also creating two circuits which can be used simultaneously - the inner track will be ideal for shakedown tests."

There is also a map of the proposed layout on http://www.Dailysportscar.com

All in my local paper today - how exciting considering that before Palmer and Co bought the track it was up for redevelopment out side of motor sport - just hope I still have a licence when the new track is opened - come on Mary a 24hr race on our local international circuit !!

Nor have I, that's why I don't like to have the goalposts moved again!

I never really got the hang of the old circuit with the Norwich Straight and a hairpin at the end, and they've changed it at least twice since then.

Still as James says, a 24 hour race would provide plenty of practice.

Snetterton 24 hours – you just need a 2CV

Do the race 2CVs have that horrible dash-mounted push-pull gear lever ? Imagine using that for a long race :-(

Don't knock 2CV racing. A 2CV can complete a 24 hour race just as quickly as an Audi R8!

Yes Kelvin
It may may true that they both take 24 hours, but i suspect the distance covered might be slighlty in the Audi's favour
