Brooklands Double Twelve is back! Nic Waller is keen to see a good Morgan entry
"We are keen to invite as many pre and post war Morgan motor cars into the
special class for Morgans. We still have a few places available. Charles
Morgan has kindly agreed to be there and serve as the class judge!"
I would love to hear from any Morgan owners who would like to enter this
prestigious event.

ENTRY APPLICATIONS CLOSE APRIL 30th
Hello
If you haven't already entered your car for the Brooklands Double Twelve, there
are still a few more weeks to go until the class lists close. I am delighted
that we already have some great cars entered for this competitive and fun event
and am really looking forward to June 5th and 6th when the Double Twelve returns
to Brooklands.
There will be 144 cars in total, 12 in each of the 12 classes, invited to
compete in the combined Double Twelve Driving Tests and Concours competition in
and around the Museum site over the weekend. A new feature this year will be to
incorporate some of the original Campbell Mountain Circuit in to the driving
tests. There will be more about this when the full test details are announced.
In addition to the established Grand Touring, Edwardian, Veteran and Historic
Brooklands classes that featured in the 2008 Double Twelve event there are
several new categories for 2010. These include Morgan three and four wheelers, a
centenary celebration of Alfa Romeo, a 75th anniversary celebration of the first
Jaguar, Anglo American V8 engined cars and a special class for Minis and Mini
based vehicles.
All twelve classes will take part in the Driving Tests based on the 1939 Junior
Car Club Rally held at Brooklands and will have their vehicles judged in the
Concours d'Elegance. The Tests will take place on Saturday and Sunday and there
will also be an opportunity to drive the Mercedes-Benz World circuit during the
weekend. Judging for the Concours will be on the Sunday. In addition, on the
Saturday, there will be over 100 Pre-war cars taking part in the Brooklands
Speed Trials organised by The Vintage Sports-Car Club on the Mercedes-Benz World
circuit. This event will have a separate class structure based on type and
capacity.
It all promises to be a great weekend and I really hope that you will be a part
of it this year. The event organisers, The Brooklands Museum, a registered
charity founded in 1987, is home to the world's first purpose-built motor racing
circuit which opened in 1907. In support of the charity there will be
a competitors entry fee of £100 per car. This will include entry for your car,
driver and passenger and includes entrant hospitality. Brooklands is a magical
place where motoring history was made before the war and the Double Twelve was
one of motor racings 'crown jewel' races with competitors coming from all over
the world to drive in the 24 hour race over the two days. Further information
about Brooklands can be obtained from its website, [1]www.brooklandsmuseum.com.
Accomodation is available at many local hotels including the newly opened
Brooklands Hotel. [2]www.brooklandshotelsurrey.com
Please click on the link below to see the classes for cars that we are inviting
to take part in June 2010 and fill out and return the application form as soon
as possible. We will only be inviting 12 cars for each of the 12 classes so in
order to make sure of your place an early response is advised. Any car owners
who wish to discuss any event details or their own car entry should telephone me
on +44 (0)787 551 6817 or email me at [3]nic.waller1@virgin.net I look forward
to hearing from you soon.
I've entered my car and hopefully there will be a few more series 1s to play with!
