Manx Classic 20 – 22 April
I think this used to be a ‘historic’ event but is now open to all cars. Two sprints and a hillclimb over three days Thurs – Sat, and two of the events are on the TT course. Anyone going ? Entry closes 17 March. See http://www.manxmotorracing.com/
BUT tyres have to be Blue Book List 1A or AOO8R (my A032R tyres are List 1B). What is the recommended List 1A sprint tyre for standard +8 15 inch wheels. Can anyone lend me a set ? Or, I do have a very old set of 14 inch wheels with 195/70 Kleber V12 GTS tyres (which don’t seem to exist in Blue Book anymore). Is there a suitable List 1A tyre for these ?

The best List 1A tyre is a Toyo Proxes. See http://www.toyo.co.uk for sizes and stockists.
Looks a good event - wish I had noticed earlier. Perhaps next time.

Looked into this myself but saw Classics only Pre-71 allowed so my 1972 4/4 would have to go in with the production stuff. Have been to spectate in the past and 'twas a jolly good do.
As to tyres - make sure you get Toyo Proxes T1S and not T1R. T1R are more of a "normal" road tyre rather than somthing suitable for sprinting. I have just purchased a set for my +8 and they only cost about £55 a corner. Have been using them on the 4/4 for 3 seasons now and there's still some life left in them.
Good luck if you decide to go to the Island.
