Morgan Plus Four Racers Lunch 8th Jan 2011

Post by Mark Shears »

Hi All - I notice John Clarke started the discussion somewhat earlier in the month last year! And we still never got to have a social get-together!

So I would still like to meet up with all my racing chums who I only see on & off the circuit during 'the season' during the long winter break and the enforced time off over the Christmas period.

I still think The Leathern Bottle at Lewknor is a suitable venue if only we can all arrange our diaries - I appreciate that exotic holidays can get in the way but let's have a go anyway!

First date I would suggest is lunchtime on Thursday 30th December.

Snow permitting...!

Cheers

Mark

Mark

I'd welcome the opportunity to catch up with the Plus 4 crowd but will be away from Boxing Day until the 4th Jan. Any chance we could brighten the January gloom and hold it then ?

Cheers

Would be good to catch up. My suggestion is

Saturday 8th January 2011

Should 8th be no good, perhaps all post up say 3 dates that are good in Jan

Can we beat the 6 pages, 78 posts and 1551 views that it took to arrange last years lunch!!!

Saturday 8th Jan works for me. Talking with Mark and Richard yesterday we discussed possibility of change of venue - to somewhere around Newbury which might be a little easier to get to?

Simon

Hi Simon,

Good to see you yesterday. The 8th Jan 2011 is good for me too.

I think that is a good idea to move the venue to somewhere near the M 4. It means that it is as convenient for us Midlanders and the London boys but should also make it more accessible for those of you in the South West.

What are your thoughts re: venue?

Cheers

I am away in January, would like a venue near Colchester, and I don’t really race a +4.

Does that help ? :)

But happy to socialise at the Pom

Hi Leigh,

It should help us to go on to another page and increase the number of both postings and viewings of this topic!

As it seems we will not see you in January there is a good chance we will see you at the Pom in February!

Cheers

Hi Leigh
What do you mean "you don't race a +4" you are forgetting a successful pilot of a certain Flat Rad in the TT the other year

How about Chieveley Services............... they have a KFC and a Mc Donald's and it's central just off M4 and A34 and won't cost a lot :)

Barry – I am very conscious of my past exploits in +4 cars belonging to both you and also Tim Hill’s ‘yellow peril’. However I feel there is a difference between ‘making up the numbers at the back of the grid and treating the car with great care’, and ‘racing’ – which happens when Mary gets in front of me in my +8.

Rest assured that I am proud to have your car on my racing cv.

The arrangements for the lunch had gone underground (!!) so I'm bringing them back to the surface. After much conflabbing, the lunch will be on the 8th January at the Leathern Bottle http://www.theleathernbottle.co.uk/ from 12.00 noon.

It would be great to see anyone that has an interest in 4 cylinder racing be they owners, past masters, cash rich wannebes or impoverished dreamers. If you think you will be trying to get there, then please drop a line here so that we can warn the landlord of the descending hoard.

You don't need to turn up in a Mog, last time we visited 'The Bottle' we had an old Jag, breathless Fiat, various rep mobiles and Charles' Mog Zetec flat rad.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in the new year

Merry Xmas
