Funny you should say that Mary, as John used to play the euphonium! Unfortunately he didn't own a Morgan then.

Catherine Emberson wrote:Dear John,

Hope it isn't too late but John and I would like to join all of you on the 7th if that would be OK. We weren't sure if we could make it but now that John has also realised that he can cycle over to the Leathern Bottle and get a lift back with me then it looks a definite possibility. Good training for The Hammer cycle event in Devon on April Fools day that John has entered for (only 135 kilometers)! Now we just have to decide whether we come in the Plus 4 4 seater as John is convinced that his bike will fit easily in the back for the return journey. Is he right?

Hope to see you then.

Catherine.
Catherine,
I would imagine that John would pass through places like Tring, Wendover, Little Kimble and Chinnor, if so he should be aware that there are likely to be a few 'speed hogs' using the same route,so he should use extreme caution as he cycles along. Why he might even get his picture took!

รก Well Wisher.

PS: A bike fits in the back of an Astra OK!

It would be great if John and his PA can come along......I'm not sure there are any showers at the Bottle so you might wish to bring along wet wipes!!!

Thanks for the note Keith and Sue....you would be very welcome and it would have been a nice surprise if you could have attended.

As a general message...this is a laid back event and no booking is necessary....there is no set meal, no factory visit, no membership required and therefore no subs due...it is not sanctioned by the MSCC, MSA, FIA, FISC, MRL, HSCC, GT&SCC................

It is a small country pub with country pub faire. As a matter of courtesy, I will warn the landlord that circa 20 people will be descending.....but numbers are really irrelevant ....I am sure the landlord will be happy with "more the merrier"......and you don't need to arrive in a Morgan.....although the odd one would be very appreciated (Astras maybe asked to park in the """one and thrupennies"""......but red ones will be given special dispensation)

Happy new year to all

john

Great to see everyone on Saturday. From a few of us gathered around one table a few short years ago it has become quite an event with some people actually turning up in Morgans. I guess that's what is called a noggin and natter.

Best of luck to all for the forthcoming racing season.

Great turnout and a lovely day - for cycling to the pub. Well done John - much respect! It really was good to see so many friends who we haven't seen since near the end of the last season. Only trouble is there are now so many more friends to catch up with that you can't get round them all! Mark - I never did get to talk to you about racing TR2's!

A very successful and enjoyable day. Have a good 2012 everyone.

Cheers

Mark

Thank's to all attendees for their friendship, a great day out in beautiful sunshine, but I left before it got rowdy, so I hope you are all out on bail by now.

Many thanks to Brian and Catherine for hospitality.

I presume John is wearing the "Norah Batty" limited edition bib tights for special effect.
May I be so bold as to reccomend the Assos S5 which is a more flattering fit and has substantial extra gel padding where it is most required (which might also impress the ladies)--Moreover, nowadays one can also purchase special water bottle carriers that fit direct to the cycle frame and dispense with the need to carry said bottle tucked down the front of the shorts (this does not fool nor impress the ladies).
From his pose I gather he was solicting donations

Guess who was conspicuous by his absence?

"Wearing and trousers", spring to mind.

More pictures from the event are on the usual web site. (For those who couldn't make it!)
