I expect Mary is even now composing a suitably acerbic poem in response.
PS Arm now out of sling Bob, so may be more easy to recognise in the pits at BDC/MGCC!

Now Smudger is a fine chap with a Landy Series One
He went to a pub with his sister and a couple of other chums
When drew the evening to a close the soberest of them all
Was the only lady driver in the group, young Mary (not very tall)

“Fear not my lads” she bravely said “I will get you safely back”
She briskly drove the Landy along the country track
Spying a light coloured patch she said “Do you think that’s ice?”
“No it’s only salt” the boys replied “we’ll be home in a trice”

The Landy lost its footing then and bounced right off a tree
It landed in a muddy field with no gate that we could see.
A bumpy lap around the edge revealed no clear escape
So back they went the way they had come to get into this scrape

The moral of this story is plain for all to see
If you want to have a pint or two just don’t rely on me!

But what can you expect, with a woman at the wheel?
They show no respect, for the road they have no feel.
Now Mr.Bull you asked for this
With words so very unjust
How can a man who drives a shed
Have views that we can trust?

That's not a Land Rover - this is a Land Rover, and I can park it anywhere I like!

I know in rhymes I never can defeat her, even in Greek iambic pentameter.
Oh for more prosodic skills, to win heart with poetic thrills,
But a lack of talent I must curse, and stick with poorly doggerel verse.
So of her affection there is not a whiff, I blew my chance for Miss Mary Smith.

Mary dear, I see the point, and stand rebuked again.
Why must I suffer such recurring pain?
You see I only drive a lowly shed,
Not too clean and coloured red.

Not Longfellow more Shortar ................

Oh for more prosodic skills,
Are you sure you don't mean prosaic skills Bob?
You see I only drive a lowly shed,
Not too clean and coloured red.

The 'Shed' get's washed every year for the Goodwood Revival Meeting. I do have my pride you know!

There is nothing prosaic about my prosody, it never lacks middle ground and demonstrates classical grace with an evanescent charm rarely found in modern verse, indeed when the current Poet Laureate is finally deposed I may well apply for the job.
