Down in the Shires something stirred, the strangest accent ever heard,
Enquired boldly about a tale, concerning some odd Knightly male.
Confused. Does this voice dare to teach, when Chaucer's name is so in breach,
Of custom, manner, and tradition? Why, this surely smacks of foul sedition.

What can one say about this dammed traitor, except justice will serve, but later.
When clouds of Winter's Tale have faded, and once more in summer rain we wadeth.
Then at some glorious English field, where brave men cry "I'll never yield".
In gay panoply of Morgan action, a challenge issued will give satisfaction.

No more confusion our mission is set aright, no Venice Merchant or Midsummer night.
But stout Will's tale of lust and betrayal, should be our endeavours sole portrayal.
Further diversion from truth of Winters Tale, could land the culprit in Newgate jail.
Thus transgressors incarcerated, with whip and scourge may be berated.

Prince John. Minor nobleman from the West Country. Of little consequence to the plot.
Jack the Bell Dinger; Jester and itinerant pedlar of cart parts.
Lady Mary of Linseed, guardian of the historic writs of Malvernia.
King Toliver, ruler of an obscure kingdom somewhere 'oop North,
Master Peterkin keeper of protocol for The Peasants of Shefleas.
Queen Katy Mother of the Princeling Jammy Fingers.
John the Barbour, Manservant to Lady Mary.
Bulldog; Mythical beast guarding the Gates of Hades.

In the Kingdom of Malvernia, horses were more important than gold or treasure, the man with the most horses dominated the lists. The Upper Classes always had more horses than the Middle and Lower Classes, thus when ever they met in mortal combat it was the big Veeate equines away ran from the lesser endowed, Forfors, even invited strangers were inevitably left to squabble with the Lower Classes.

Despite this palpably unfair situation, many of the squires and landed gentry continued to compete in the many tournaments held throughout the Kingdom, and in the Year of Our Lord 1013 a certain farm boy Fil of Tisnaught by many a cunning plot secured the much prized title of Champion, even though his steed was lacking in the power of horses compared with Le Planter, Mat of Whiring or Godly Phillip of Stoneage.

Clearly Mary, by launching a Shakespearian drama, we have discovered that the majority of Morgan drivers have little to offer above a pantomime level of intellect. We must lower our sights to something more basic I fear if we wish to attract contributions to our seasonal entertainment.

Should we start afresh with something like "SpongeBob Squarepants", or "Bob The Builder" for instance? Perhaps the older members might remember the Famous Five, Noddy and The Elves, Larry The Lamb, or Sooty.

I await your advices.

I even posted a putative contribution courtesy of Christopher Marlowe, scholar, playwright (Tamburlaine), poet (Helen= “was this the face that launched a thousand ships) innovator (blank verse) spy, counterfeiter, erstwhile heretic and yet a catholic? prisoner and mentor to his profligate contemporary William Shakespeare.

At this point here appears to have been an intervention of malaware from some distant planet (Looney tunes?)

Is all lost? Lies redemption beyond reach?
Some may dispute the diversionary tactic of that master of the vernacular Geoffrey Chaucer. (But this is rich hunting ground for future forays)

In the last analysis is this just a mess of potage (something immediately attractive but of little value taken foolishly and carelessly in exchange for something more distant and perhaps less tangible but immensely more valuable)
