73rd Members Meeting

Post by Bob Bull »

I see we have a few Morgans amongst the entry, and a certain Billy Bellinger in a Lola.

I am looking forward to it.

See you there Mark.

Andy click on this link and look for the Brian A post and you will find a link to the entry list. With all due respect I would not rely on Phillip's tech skills.

Cheers,

Bob

Did I see some mention of 'Spannerman' being in attendance?

Very good Bob. I think you need a lesson in photo shop or what ever it is called. Looks like you just did cut & paste ..

Made it for the Sunday – chilly but dry.

Various ‘faces’ and the 10.00 race had three 1960s Mogs.

Choc ices a non-starter.

Sam Spindlow started near back and after a few laps caught Mark Shears who had started mid field.

Mark then spun at chicane but rejoined to finish the race

I wont name names but in the Porsche race we saw a VERY experienced Morgan driver spin off. So Mark was in good company. :)

Thanks for your kind words Leigh - that makes me feel better!

As you may have seen I made a cracking start and was up four places by the end of my first lap but lost one place to Rae Davis ( no not of Kinks fame - different spelling!) in his outrageously quick WSM Sprite by the second lap.

I won't give all the usual racing driver excuses about my half spin and cold tyres, damp kerbs etc. It was still tremendous fun.

It was cold on Sunday (Saturday afternoon was very windy and freezing...) but it was dry and most of the time sunny and blue skies with hardly a breeze.

But the cars and the racing were fantastic. A proper motor racing Event. Think Revival but without all the razamataz and all the people - most of whom don't even watch the motor racing. Just brilliant.

It was great to see so many Morgan people who came to wish us racers well and thank you to Philip and Jonny for all your support and help over the weekend.

As Jack B. said to Phil ' you only need a big hammer and a screwdriver ( and a block of wood) to fix anything on a Morgan!

Thanks to you all,

Cheers

Mark

Bob - fantastic photos.

Just brilliant.

A wonderful event and we shouldn't complain about the weather as it was dry and mostly sunny. But boy was it cold.

I think you can see that in my face talking to Simon King!

Nice to see you Bob - even if only for a short time. Hope you enjoyed it too...

Cheers

Is the other black car your old black car Mark?

Looks like a great event... Let me guess....not just a matter of registrering online and coming over next year....???
