2015 'Holly' Birkett 6-hour Relay
Re: 2015 'Holly' Birkett 6-hour Relay
Driving in the wet? What about trying to take photographs in driving rain?
Alright for the casual snapper, but when you are dedicated to following three teams with up to six cars each it means a lot of standing in puddles and endeavouring to keep one's equipment dry - as well as the camera! Still it makes you appreciate the courage and tenacity (ie Stupidity?) of the chaps on track, and even more so the dedication of the marshals out there for much longer than a mere six hours most without any protection other than a coat. They are the true heroes of the day.
naturally the lovely ladies are deserving of endless praise for looking after all and sundry so well. Thank you girls you were magnificent.
Phots to appear shortly.
Bob

Bobby, please may we use some of your phots in Miscellany?
I have asked Fuhrer Downes for a copy of his excellent report.
By the way which other team were you following apart from the two with Morgans in?

Jack! The more famous do not need a vest, their stature is sufficient to allow them access to areas prohibited to others.
The VERY Famous,

Another year and another outing for the team boss in the linen suit
Not the smoothest of Birketts, but one the wettest for some time (no wonder Simon OG opted for Portugal)
As one of the "helpers" - getting wet on the pit wall is always so much "fun", but mitigated by the epic catering (which most of the marshals seem to have sussed too) - if there was a prize for "munchies" we would be first on scratch every time
The antics in the garage are usually the highlight - watching the teams next door who seem to earnestly fiddle with their cars incessantly whilst we pass on "useful" advice whilst munching a bacon roll.
Other highlights - Sumner being urged out for practice - helmeted and belted in - only to find VMO's keys were still in the van - parked miles away
or Jack B, doing similar only to find his crash helmet filled with a large bag of nuts thoughtfully provided by his daughter in law.
Last but by no means least - where did Kelvin go for about 2 hours in the middle of the day? - answers on a postcard please to the GMC

I think we saw the same bag of nuts at the 4 hour relay at Snetterton. On that day they were passed from driver to driver, in true relay fashion, only to end up back with Jack like a sort of health food baton.Jack B, doing similar only to find his crash helmet filled with a large bag of nuts thoughtfully provided by his daughter in law.

Update from Kate & Simon OG in Potimao;
SLR 2nd in class (qualified on class pole) only beaten by the big Welch Austin Healey.
John Emberson 4th in class (in the +4 I think).
