On Thursday 23rd November the Silverstone marshals are holding their annual motor sport quiz, and I have been invited to enter a team, however, I am short of a fourth person. The event is held at the White Hart in Silverstone village at 8.0pm. and is good fun. Anyone fancy a night out in Northants as a warm up for the Drivers Dinner? Three years ago we finished second, the next year we were second again although this time it was from the bottom. Last year we were well down as our fourth expert failed to show.

The marshals appreciate interest in their affairs so one willing volunteer would be most welcome.

If any questions are on F1 there is only one man for the job who is fairly local I think

Leigh the quiz is a general motor sport knowledge based and has a variety of ingenious 'puzzles' to work out, very clever, it is not all what you know.

For example on question involved working out drivers names from rather odd descriptions 'Stupid Chips' referred to Johnny Dumfries (get it?).

Well worth coming along if it is convenient for anyone.

On the subject of quizzes thanks very much Bob for the two quizzes at the Dinner on Saturday.

Being a very non observant driver I was hopeless on the Guess the Circuit (except for the expanse of sea at Anglesey) but excelled at the other quiz (100%) and some answers brought me back a few years – Patty Hearst, Magic Roundabout.

It did help having a list of all the drivers names in my pocket as I wouldn’t know a Parnell car or a Greg golfer but I do know we have a Greg Parnell !

Also thanks for taking on the role of official photographer and I hope you were flashing OK

Yes, it was a fiendish quiz and obviously involved a lot of work.

Thank you for those few kind words, Leigh, I was mostly relived that the two puzzles were a success rather than pleased. It should be no surprise that you failed to excel at circuit recognition, as the pictures are all from a spectator's point of view, the driver must have an entirely different perspective, however, how did you 'just happen' to have a list of Morgan drivers in your DJ? Raises suspicion that you were fore warned of events!
I have submitted an illustrated report to Mary, who may or may not choose to publish it depending on legal advice. I will post a link to pictures late today.
