DALLAS SMITH
Sad to report that Dallas Smith has passed away.
Dallas was the first eligibility scrutiniser for the Morgan challenge and many will remember him scrutineering at Snetterton, particularly for the Willhire 24 hour races.
He carried on scrutineering well into his 90s and was given a 'Long Service Recognition' award by Motorsport UK to honour his 62 years as a scrutineer.
He had worked since the late 1950s as a scrutineer and before that was a race mechanic and even built one of the first Lotus 6s. He worked for the HSCC since the very early days of the Club's own race meetings back in 1982.
We send sincere condolences to his family and many friends across the sport, he will be hugely missed.
