RIP Philip Goddard

Post by Mary Lindsay »

It is with great sadness that we learnt that Philip Goddard, Morgan racer and great character passed away on 1st July. Our thoughts are with Sharlie and his family.

Indeed , Mary I was at the MSCC Brooklands Jamboree on Saturday, and heard the news, I know that Nigel would be giving eulogy at the dinner that evening. While I did not know Phillip as well as most on here, I always found him to be friendly approachable and generous, A true English Gentleman.

I will pray for Phillip and Sharlie, and say that it was a life well lived.
Sharlie, I will always remember the best of your soulmate, Phillip, my thoughts will be with you, at this sad time.

God Bless,
Bob.

This is such sad news. Philip was an fine exemplar of what Morgan racing is all about. He was competitive but generous. He wanted to win but he never took racing or himself too seriously. I remember sharing his Plus Eight (his ivory coloured standard one) with him once at Snetterton. He will long be fondly remembered.

My thoughts go to Sharlie and the family.

Well, I tried it and it worked for me, so hopefully it will for everyone.

Thanks Alan for letting me know of the problem.

BDC? Fiscar no doubt?

Kind regards,

Bob.

Hi BOB,
works now thanks.
Had to pull out of the last Fiscar this recent weekend due to a fall and battered face!
Should be fit enough for BDC.

Bob,
Well done Bob, a fitting montage of Phil's Challenge career! Always with that endearing smile!
Philip was most welcoming to Dominic and I when we entered the Challenge in 2014. The motor home always open for a beer and a chat. We send our sincere condolences to Sharlie and the family.

Did anyone write to the BDC thanking them for including the tribute to Phillip in the programme? It was submitted as a paid advert, but the Bentley club sis not charge, and made a very nice job of the original piece.

Bob,
Yes sent to Stuart Newman at BDC office.
Thank you for your efforts preparing this considerate piece.
Sharlie received a copy of the programme from Philip St Clair Tisdall too.

Mary,
I also sent a email on behalf of the series to Martin Greenslade at BDC thanking him for all his help. I also had a good chat with him at the BBQ on the Friday.
