ZANDVOORT 2008 - Possible Morgan Race for older cars

Post by Andy Downes »

Possible Morgan Race at Zandvoort in 2008

2008 sees the 5th Anniversary of the ‘Classic Section’ of the Dutch Morgan Club.

As part of their celebrations Machiel Kalf is trying to arrange for a parade/display and a Race during the HARC September Meeting at the excellent Zandvoort circuit. This Race Meeting is always the weekend following Goodwood Revival so provisionally 6th-7th September for 2008.

For the Dutch Club ‘Classic Section’ means pre-1968 cars (inclusive) – this would fit very nicely with the majority of the 4 cylinder cars competing in the TT race at Bentley Drivers and one or two of the very early +8s.

It’s perhaps unlikely that we could raise a full grid but there are always plenty of MGs and TRs at the Zandvoort meeting and we could share a race with them (TT all over again).

Licence requirement is likely to be MSA National ‘A’ or above.

I have offered to help Machiel gauge the level of interest for this event.

Please post back here any thoughts or comments.

Many Thanks

Sounds like it could be a fun weekend. As I liberated my car from Holland a few years ago it would be interesting to take it back and compare my lap times to those of the previous owner. At least the car would know its way round even if I wouldn't !

September is usually a busy time of the year in terms of race meetings but please put me down as interested.

What we really really need is another challenge outing to ZV then maybe we could all join the fun?
Or maybe I could find a mint +4 SS for a tenner on ebay ;-)
Cheers, Tony

Tony,

If it’s a two driver race you can share my Plus 4 :O: as I am sure Mark Shears will also want to go in his car.

By the way prices have moved on a bit so I wouldn’t waste your time looking on e-bay. :-({|=

Tony - if it is a two driver race we might be fighting over you as the quick, celebrity driver!!! Heaven knows I could do with you on my side!!!

Andy, you better count me in!

Following on from Spa last weekend, i would also be keen but suspect my +4 would not be eligble.

Hi Andy,

Any update on Zandvoort later in the season? Would be good if it was a longer, two driver race. Just trying to establish my racing commitments for this year!

Hey John, how about working out for us all another really helpfull "Big Calender" for Historic Plus Fours?!

Cheers,

Mark
