Avon CR66-ZZ Tyres

I've put the Avons on the Moss box Plus8 for this weekends sprint and hillclimbs. (The profile of the A032s is too low to satisfy the regs).

I've not used them before. Any suggestions as to the correct tyre pressures?

Keith,

Can't help much myself but if you need input have a chat with Pat Hadley (tel:01980 630415) or Alan Foster (tel: 01962 862505) both sprint/hillclimb stallwarts who have used these tyres.

Have fun

Paul

I use these on my 4/4 for sprints and hillclimbs. I find 24psi works Ok for me but then again I'm no expert.

Seriously 32psi all round..You can go to 34psi front and 32 rear I find this can help with steering on the throttle if lots of sharp turns But most important if they are new you will need a good couple of laps to bed them in. they will then get better and better.
If scrubbed still need to bed them in but will react sooner

Oh by the way if the edges dont fall out in chunks you have not been trying

sorry cant give away any more secrets Mary may be watching!!!!!

ZZs chunk (technical term!!) really badly - ruined a couple of new tyres and learn't they must be scrubbed for race use - once scrubbed are brilliant. Once chunked - you get an idea what Kimi had to put up with before his suspension collapsed......

I wonder though whether the tyres will get sufficiently hot in a short sprint/hill climb to worry about chunking??

Congrats on Thruxton - looking forward to seeing the highlights on tv

Ha Ha, Jack. Now I've tricked you into divulging your tyre pressures I can come out and beat you in Class D. :P :P :P

On the other hand, one takes the risk of being beaten in class by a woman........

No, seriously, thanks to all for the tyre info.

2nd in class tonight, on a quarter mile standing start, to a Sunbeam Tiger. Hillclimbs to do Sat. & Sun.

Best wishes, Keith.

Thanks to all for the tyre info.

It helped me take a class win in each of the two hillclimbs and the weekend grand prize for the fastest combined times for the two hillclimbs.

Have fun at Bentley Drivers'. Will miss you all, but under orders to go on holiday with Sue. :?
